We always recommend that if a shaft is replaced that the couplings get replaced as well.  We manufacture the couplings and shafts as matched pairs and the runout of the coupling face is checked when it is fitted to the shaft.  If an old coupling is fitted to a new shaft there is a risk that the face runout will be too large and cause vibration.
